The Board of Education recognizes the importance of having well-qualified personnel in support
staff positions to assure an efficient and effective educational program. All support staff positions
in the school system will be established by the Board, and recommendations for employment will
be presented to the Board for approval by the superintendent.
The Board of Education recognizes the importance of having well-qualified personnel in support
staff positions to assure an efficient and effective educational program. All support staff positions
in the school system will be established initially by the Board and recommendations for employment
will be presented to the Board for approval by the superintendent.
The following definitions apply to noncertificated personnel:
► Support Staff – Employees who do not need teaching, supervisory and/or administrative
certificates in order to hold their position.
► Full-Time Employees – Employees, excluding bus drivers and bus monitors, who are
regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week.
► Part-Time Employees – Employees, excluding bus drivers and bus monitors, who are
regularly scheduled to work fewer than 30 hours per week.
► Full-Time Bus Drivers/Monitors – Bus drivers and bus monitors who are regularly scheduled
to work three (3) daily bus routes/tiers will receive a minimum of five (5) hours per day/25
hours per week.
► Part-Time Bus Drivers/Monitors – Bus drivers and bus monitors who are regularly scheduled
to work fewer than three (3) daily bus routes/tiers and/or 25 hours per week.
► Temporary Personnel – Employees who accept assignment(s) for a predetermined period of
time will not be provided Board-paid benefits. This stipulation shall be included in the
posting notices. The length of service for assignment may be based on:
1. Time needed to complete a specified task.
2. A specific date set for termination of an assignment.
3. The return of a full-time or part-time employee from an absence.
Only full-time employees are eligible to receive paid health, dental and life insurance. Only
12-month employees receive vacation leave.
Twelve-month, part-time employees accrue sick, personal and vacation leave on a prorated basis.
They must work between 20-29 hours per week to be eligible for the prorated leave.
The superintendent is required to provide for the maintenance of up-to-date job descriptions covering
all noncertificated support staff positions in the school system. Job descriptions are to be kept in a
separate manual dedicated to that purpose and shall be available in the office of the superintendent
during regular business hours.
