SUPPORT STAFF SENIORITY

 


Support staff personnel shall be defined as:

 

1.       Those employees who are employed in a job classification which does not require a teaching certificate and are paid from any district budgetary fund other than the teachers fund.

 

Full-time classified employees shall be defined as:

 

                  Those employees working 30 or more hours per week and shall accumulate one month seniority for each month worked.

 

Part-time classified employees shall be defined as:

 

                  Those employees working less than 30 hours per week and shall accumulate one-half month seniority for each month worked.

 

2.       Seniority shall be accrued through continuous employment by the School District of the City of St. Charles.

 

3.       Seniority shall be given consideration only in the event a reduction in personnel and subsequent recall in accordance with Board policy GDPA.

 

4.       Employee's seniority will be broken; that is, they will no longer be in the employ of the district if they:

 

                  Voluntarily quit.

 

                  Are discharged for cause.

 

                  Fail to report to work at the expiration of an approved leave of absence.

 

                  Are absent due to an illness or injury and fail to return to work when released by the doctor.

 

                  Retire.

 

                  Give a material false statement in obtaining employment with the district.

 

                  Do not signify an intention to return to work after layoff within three (3) work days after being notified by mail to the last known address on the district's records and do not report to work within five (5) work days from the day notification was received unless they present a satisfactory explanation for such failure.

 

                  Are employed by another employer in any type of work at a time in which they are scheduled to work for the district.


If an employee fails to report to work within two (2) calendar weeks from date of sending of recall, unless an extension is granted in writing by the assistant superintendent of human resources, said employee shall be considered as a voluntary termination and shall thereby terminate his or her individual employment relationship with the Board of Education.
