Students who are absent from school without the knowledge and consent of their parents/guardians and the administration, or students who leave school during any session without the consent of the principal, shall be considered truant. Students may also be considered truant if they have accumulated excessive unjustifiable absences, even with the consent of the parent/guardian. Truancy may result in the student's suspension or expulsion from school. The building principal will determine the penalty in accordance with the current code of student conduct and will also provide for the student's readmittance to class.

School administrators and teachers are responsible for keeping records of student attendance. Also, the designated attendance officer for the district shall assist the administration when a student attendance problem warrants additional investigation or assistance.
