The Board of Education recommends that all students have accident insurance. Although arranging
for such insurance is the responsibility of the student and parents/guardians, the Board may name
an insurance carrier each year to offer group rates. Participation in the group plan is optional.
Parents/Guardians and students will deal directly with the insurance carrier.
Students participating in interscholastic athletics and certain other activities governed by the
Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) are required to have accident
insurance coverage before being allowed to practice or compete for a school team. A student will
not be allowed to participate in these activities, including practices, until proof of insurance coverage
is received in the principal's office.
The district will provide parents/guardians enrolling students in the district information about the
state children's health insurance program, MO HealthNet for Kids (MHK). A parent/guardian who,
when completing an application for free and reduced-price meals, indicates that a child does not have
health insurance will be notified by the district that the MHK program is available, if household
income is within eligibility standards.
