The Board expects all students to be under assigned adult supervision at all times when they are
in school, on school grounds, traveling under school auspices or engaging in school-sponsored
activities. School personnel assigned this supervision are expected to act as reasonably prudent
adults in providing for the safety of the students in their charge.
In keeping with this expected prudence no teacher or other staff member will leave his or her
assigned group unsupervised unless an arrangement has been made to take care of an emergency
or in the case of aides presiding over lunch periods.
The welfare and safety of students while on school premises is the responsibility of all staff
members. The building principal at each attendance center will, with staff input develop and
implement a schedule of supervision to provide for student safety during noninstructional time.
The building supervision schedule will be implemented so as not to unduly interfere with the
instructional program or to unduly burden the staff nor jeopardize the safety of students.
During school hours or while engaging in school-sponsored activities, students will be released
only into the custody of parents or other authorized persons.
The school administration will ensure that anyone who wishes to contact a student during the
school day is doing so for proper reasons.
