It is the goal of the district to foster positive relationships with parents which encourage the home
and school to work together toward establishing and achieving common educational goals for
students. The Board of Education shall recognize the significant role of the local, county and
national parent/teacher organizations and solicit the support of these organizations for better
education at the local, state and national levels.
The Board encourages staff members to join parent/teacher and other community organizations
and to participate actively in their programs. The Board requests that staff members conduct
themselves in such a way as to perpetuate the favorable district-wide orientation of these various
associations. The Board deems this type of communication extremely valuable in maintaining the
overall effectiveness of the total educational program.
Any teacher who feels that his or her department or building is in need of materials or supplies
should first discuss the need with his or her principal. It is poor public relations and shows a lack
of concern for orderly procedures to ask parent/teacher organizations or civic groups to donate
supplies or materials to a particular school or department. Any request from parent/teacher
organizations or civic groups to donate supplies or materials should be approved by the office of
the superintendent.
